What is The Joey Tag?

Simply put, The Joey Tag is a child safety device that helps parents keep their precious children safe. It has an out-of-range alert to help prevent losing your child; a panic alarm for your child to alert you when in a threatening situation. The Joey Tag uses Bluetooth so it doesn’t have monthly fees.  

Which phones does The Joey Tag app work with?

The Joey Tag and its app are compatible with the iPhone 4S and newer as well as Android devices running  version 4.3 (Jelly Bean) or newer.

How do I set up The Joey Tag?

It’s simple! Launch the app on your phone. Press "Start" in the app. Press the button on The Joey Tag to turn it on.  When your Joey Tag shows up on the app, just touch "Connect". There are many other features to make it even more useful for your daily life. Our app information can be found here, or in your app in the settings menu.(click information, instructions). 

How do I unlock The Joey Tag wristband?

Use the included magnetic key chain to unlock the wristband. Place the magnet on the back of the lock to release the locking mechanism. While the magnet is still on the lock, pull the latch open. See a video here.  

How do I charge The Joey Tag?

The Joey Tag can be removed from the wristband. There is a micro-USB port on the tag. Use the included USB cable to charge The Joey Tag.

Can I connect to more than one Joey Tag?

If you have a Brady Bunch, you can connect to as many Joey Tags as you need. You can also customize the name, picture, and settings of each Joey Tag in our app, so you will know which tag is on which child.​

Can I share The Joey Tag with others?

Certainly. To lend your Joey Tag to a friend, first disconnect that specific Joey Tag from your phone app. Now your friend can put The Joey Tag on their own child and connect to it with The Joey Tag app on their own phone. 


What are the main differences between The Joey Tag and My Buddy Tag?

  • The Joey Tag has an increased range (up to about 300 feet vs 80-100 feet)

  • The Joey Tag has Short-Range GPS that allows tracking of your child's location.

  • The Joey Tag vibrates and audibly alerts your child

  • The Joey Tag has a rechargeable battery.

  • The Joey Tag has a magnetic locking mechanism on the band.


What is Short-Range GPS?

Short-range GPS is our patent-pending technology that sends the GPS information from The Joey Tag to your phone without the use of cellular networks, so there are NO monthly fees. The range is around 100 yards (the length of an American football field).

Is The Joey Tag waterproof?

Yes, The Joey Tag is IPx7 waterproof (up to 1 meter depth for 30 minutes or less). Your children can splash and play as much as they like without damaging The Joey Tag.

Will the panic button continue to alert me each time it’s activated?

Every time your kid presses the panic button, our app will sound the alarm on your phone and vibrate. (If your phone is muted, it will just vibrate.) At the same time, it will pop up a message on your phone telling you that your child needs you. You can disable this alert in the settings.
